The only time when accounting under the new lease standard the balances will equal is at Initial Recogition

After initial recognition, the Right of Use Asset and Lease Liability will not equal. It's also common at initial recognitions for the two balances to differ.

The lease liability and right-of-use asset balances differ because each balance follows very different calculation methodologies when getting to $0.
